Comparison

Thermomix TM7 vs TM6

Both machines cook identically — the same recipes, the same core functions. What changed is the experience around the cooking: the screen, the noise, and a few smart new features.

Thermomix TM6 vs TM7 official comparison: TM6 has a 6.8-inch screen, step-by-step Guided Cooking, powerful motor, and 17 modes; TM7 has a 10-inch screen, improved smarter Guided Cooking, a powerful but silent motor, a larger Varoma with insulated bowl, and 20 modes including Open Cooking and open Browning. Both include a 3-month free Cookidoo trial.

What's Actually New on the TM7

The TM7's 10-inch touchscreen showing trending recipes and desserts

Bigger, Faster Screen

The 10-inch touchscreen loads and scrolls Cookidoo recipes like a modern tablet, and the Guided Cooking steps are far easier to read from across the counter than the TM6's 6.8-inch panel.

The TM7's insulated mixing bowl with handle and lid

Insulated Bowl

The bowl heats faster and stays cool to the touch on the outside — a real difference if little hands are around the kitchen while it's running.

Salmon fillets steaming in the redesigned rectangular Varoma dish

Redesigned Varoma

The steaming basket is now rectangular instead of oval, with about 40% more room — enough to steam a full dinner for the family in one go.

Stirring a sauce by hand in Open Cooking mode on the TM7 touchscreen

Open Cooking Mode

Cook uncovered with no blade rotation, for better evaporation and browning — a technique the sealed TM6 bowl couldn't really do.

Motor

Just as powerful as the TM6, but noticeably quieter.

Tilting the TM7 on its built-in slider foot to move it across the counter

Built-In Slider Foot

Slide the TM7 across the counter safely without a separate slider board — the old TM6 workaround for not disturbing the scale.

Should You Upgrade?

If you don't already own a Thermomix®️, this isn't really a choice—the TM7 is the current generation sold new in Canada, so you're getting the latest model.

If you already own a TM6, though, I think the decision is a little more personal.

For me, the larger 10-inch screen is one of the biggest improvements. It's easier to see the recipe, follow the guided steps, and navigate Cookidoo while I'm cooking. I also really like being able to find a recipe on my phone and send it directly to my TM7 with Recipe Handover. The TM6 could sync with Cookidoo and access recipes from your phone, but the TM7 makes that handoff feel much more seamless.

The other improvement I didn't expect to appreciate as much as I do is the insulated mixing bowl. It's more comfortable and reassuring to handle, especially when my 11-year-old is helping in the kitchen. I feel much more at ease letting her handle the bowl because the insulation helps keep the outside cooler. And that insulation also contributes to one of the TM7's most noticeable improvements: it's dramatically quieter. Vorwerk measures the TM7 at about 35 dB at soft speed/speed 1, compared with about 63 dB for the TM6 under the same test conditions.

So, would I upgrade?

If you cook regularly and appreciate a better, quieter, more family-friendly experience, I think the TM7 is a meaningful upgrade. The bigger screen, easier recipe handoff, insulated bowl, and quieter operation are improvements you'll notice every day.

If you already have a TM6 that works perfectly and you only cook with it occasionally, I'd be less inclined to rush out and upgrade. The TM6 still has access to Cookidoo's recipe ecosystem, and you aren't suddenly missing out on the thousands of recipes available to Thermomix owners.

For me, though, the TM7 isn't just about having the newest model. It's about making the machine easier and more comfortable for my whole family to use—and that's something I notice every time we cook together.
